Set Your TV at the Correct Height with the G-Series Desktop Stands

The ONKRON G-Series full motion desk mounts provide a fully adjustable stand for your computer monitor or small flatscreen TV. Clamping onto the edge of a desk, table, or counter with your choice of clamp or grommet attachment, this mount features a multi-jointed that you can swivel, turn, raise, and lower to position the screen exactly where it’s easiest for you to view. However, you may find it necessary to make a few adjustments to the stand depending on the monitor’s weight.

The ONKRON G-Series include specific adjustment features so you can change the arm’s characteristics to better match your screen. The mounting plate includes both 75x75 and 100x100 VESA ( some even include 200x200 VESA ) mounting pattern holes to support VESA compliant monitors, but you can also change the stiffness of the joints in this smoothly operating gas strut design.

G-series Hight Adjustment Instruction

Adjusting the Main Joint for Weight

If the monitor is at the heavier end of the supported range, the factory setting of the joints may not be stiff enough to keep it raised. In this case, the weight of the screen causes the arm to fold down, eliminating the stand’s main benefit.

To fix this, look for the tensioning bolt on the upper surface of the joint’s lower half. This is a silver bolt head with a hexagonal Torx pattern socket, which will require a Torx wrench to tighten or loosen it. A small arrow is inscribed in the plastic near this with a minus at one end and a plus at the other. To loosen the stiffness of the joint and make it more “slippery,” turn this tensioning bolt clockwise. To increase the joint’s stiffness, turn it counterclockwise with the Torx wrench.

Since you’re looking to make the arm harder to move (so that it will hold up a heavy monitor better), turn the bolt counterclockwise a turn or two, then test. Eventually, the joint will be stiff enough to support the raised monitor without sagging.

Strictly speaking, for lightweight monitors, the joint does not need to be loose to support them. A very stiff joint will obviously hold them up just the same. However, a looser joint makes quick positioning far easier, so you should loosen the bolt (turn it clockwise) as far as you can without causing the lightweight screen to sag.

Solving Monitor Tilt at the Mounting Plate

Even if the arm joint is stiff enough to hold up a heavy monitor without sagging, the VESA mounting plate itself may tilt forward under the weight of the screen at an undesirable angle. Once again, effective troubleshooting is readily to hand by adjusting the “grip” or “stiffness” of this secondary joint.

To fix mounting plate tilt, find the two small plastic covers on the VESA mount and pop them off. No tool is required to remove these covers from the plate. This reveals a nut inside which controls the tension or stiffness of the joint immediately behind the mounting plate.. Tighten the nut to increase the joint stiffness until the monitor no longer tilts forward after adjustment, then snap the plastic pieces back into place over the nut.

The ONKRON G-Series adjustability is another of its handy features, along with its handy gas strut construction, hollow interior where you can conceal cords and cables, and wide range of movement. You can get this advanced yet simple to use TV desk mount at a great price through Onkron.us – along with many other mount and stand options that give you huge flexibility in attaching and viewing monitors and screens of all sizes.
